An overview of delivery price per km per unit

Understand how to set delivery pricing based on distance and quantity, with a simple example using cement bags.

Updated this week

In the Kólé’s Supply app, when you add a product listing to your storefront, you can specify how much you charge to deliver that product — based on distance and quantity.

We call this “Delivery price per km per unit”.

What does it mean?

It means:

  • How much do you charge to deliver one unit of this product, for every kilometer travelled?”

So instead of setting one flat rate for delivery, you define a cost per unit per km, and on buyer checkout, the app calculates total delivery fee automatically based on:

  • The quantity ordered

  • The delivery driving distance

How does it work?

Formula:

Delivery Fee = Delivery price per km per unit × Quantity × Distance (in km)

Example (using cement bags)

Let’s say you’re listing 50kg bags of Dangote Cement, and you set your delivery price as:

  • ₦15 per km per bag

A customer orders 100 bags, and the delivery address is 20 km away.

Your delivery fee will be:

₦15 × 100 bags × 20 km = ₦30,000

So the customer sees a ₦30,000 delivery fee at checkout, based on your pricing.

Why is this useful?

  • It gives you full control over delivery pricing

  • Customers get transparent, automatic delivery cost at checkout

  • It adapts to order size and location — no need to manually quote each time

Tips for setting your rate

  • Include fuel, driver cost, and loading in your rate

  • You can always update your delivery price in your dashboard later
